5 Tips to Draft a Powerful Landing Page

You’ve spent a lot of time and effort to come up with a brilliant idea and create a fabulous landing page. Now it’s time to present your idea to people in the world.

Your landing page will probably be one of your business’s most crucial marketing elements, so you must ensure that it’s not just 100% good but also quite powerful and effective.

Here are five tips to help you write the perfect landing page to open floodgates of leads.

1. Know Your Audience

The first step is to know who you’re trying to reach. What are their needs? What do they want?

You can only tailor your landing page content and messaging accordingly if you know your audience. You need to know what they want and why they will want it.

One of the easiest ways to do this is through customer persona development. This can be done by asking yourself a series of questions about your customers or users, such as:

What do they like? What do they hate? What are their needs? How do they spend their time? What would make them happier than anything else in the world?

Once you have this information, you can use it to create personas for each kind of customer based on the answers above (or others). These personas will help you determine what kind of content works best for each type of user.

2. Tell Your Story

You can’t just have a landing page; you need a compelling story to tell, and that’s where your headline comes in.

A great headline will grab the reader’s attention and make them want to learn more about what you offer. It should be memorable, relevant and unique, so you’ll get people calling their friends and telling them about your product or service.

Your headline must tell a story — not just tease the page’s content. This is where adding some emotion to your copy can help here.

Instead of saying, “Sign up for our newsletter,” write something like: “Get ready for summer with our latest issue!”

This is exactly why we recommend using an all-caps font for headlines. It makes them stand out against all other text on your website and gives them more emphasis than normal text would receive elsewhere on the page (because they’re bigger).

3. Personal and Relevant

The most important thing to remember when designing a landing page is that it should be relevant to your audience, and it should not be just another generic sales page with nothing to do with the product or service itself.

For example, if you sell a residential cleaning service, the landing page should be personal and relevant. It should give the potential customers an idea of who you are and what services you offer so that they can make up their minds about whether or not your offer is something they would like.

You can use testimonials, client references, and case studies as part of your marketing strategy on this type of page because they will help convince people that your business is worth their time and effort.

4. Offer Something of Value

The key to creating a great landing page is offering something valuable. A landing page is a great way to let customers know about your product, but it’s not just about telling them what you have—it’s also about showing them why they should want it.

A good example of this is HubSpot’s landing page for its Lead Generation Suite. It’s centred around two questions: “What problem do you have with marketing leads?” and “How can we help?”

The first question asks the visitor to fill out their name and email address and then quickly dives into the problem they’re trying to solve, which helps verify that they are interested in the product. The second question is the one that drives how the visitor feels about their experience with HubSpot and whether or not they’ll buy from them.

5. Include a Call-To-Action

A call-to-action (CTA) button encourages the viewer to take action after viewing your landing page. This can be a simple request to download your free eBook, sign up for your email list or buy your product.

The CTA is the most important element on your landing page because it contains all the information and calls to action needed to engage visitors and convert them into customers.

A good landing page should include a CTA button with a clear copy that tells visitors what you want them to do next.
